Frequently asked questions

Do I need to install anything?

No. Redakto runs entirely in the browser, on Mac, Windows and your phone. Only the optional InDesign and Illustrator link needs a single script file.

Is Book Free really free?

Yes. Book Free is free forever for one person and one book, with My Desk and the book editor. The print PDF carries a small Redakto note on the cover and the contents page; EPUB and Word come with Book+ or a book pass for that book.

What is the difference between a layout seat and an editorial seat?

A layout seat lays out pages, uses Smart Design and templates and creates the print PDF. An editorial seat writes, edits, approves, manages media and ads and views layouts. You can add both kinds of seat one by one.

Can we keep working in InDesign?

Yes. With the RedaktoLink panel you pull stories straight into InDesign with your own paragraph styles. Corrections go back to Redakto in one click.

Which languages are supported?

Interface and spell check are available in Turkish, German, English and Russian. Dictation also understands Arabic and Hebrew, including right-to-left typesetting.

How do we bring in our existing content?

Chapters and stories can be imported from Word files. For larger archives we plan the migration together in the demo.

How do we move to a bigger plan?

In the settings under Subscription: pick a plan, add seats and modules. Your content stays exactly as it is. Yearly billing saves two monthly fees.
